APOGEE for Android

$9.99 one-time

APOGEE is a handheld field survey instrument. It turns your tablet's sensors into one console: motion, light, location, camera optics, sound, and nearby Wi-Fi. Switch between scan bays with a tap, log your readings, and export them. No account, no ads, no subscription. Your readings stay on your device.

Why $9.99:

One console instead of separate light, sound, Wi-Fi, and location apps.
Real readings only. It never invents values, and each bay tells you when your device lacks a sensor.
Export to CSV, GPX, GeoJSON, and geo.txt for photogrammetry tools like WebODM, plus geotagged JPEG stills.
Pay once. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads.
Your data stays on your device. No account, no tracking.

Scan bays:

SWP Sweep: all channels at once, stamped into a single survey reading.
KIN Kinematics: acceleration, rotation, and tilt.
GEO Geology: gravity and magnetic readings, with magnetometer calibration on devices that have a compass.
ACO Acoustics: live sound level and frequency spectrum, plus a tone generator.
OPT Optical: camera photonic filters, color and brightness analysis, flashlight control, and geotagged still captures.
NAV Navigation: position, speed, course, accuracy, and heading.
MAP Map: a walk-reveal trail and waypoints for your survey route.
NET Radio net: connection info and nearby Wi-Fi networks (name, channel, signal, security).
BIO Biosignature: sight, sound, and air "presence" readings.
XLT Contact: a quick phrasebook translator.

Good to know: what you get depends on your device. A Fire HD 8, for example, has an accelerometer, light sensor, cameras, microphone, and Wi-Fi-based location, but no GPS, compass, gyroscope, or NFC. APOGEE needs an internet connection to load.

VELA

$9.99 one-time

VELA records the road in front of you. Cars coming at you are marked yellow. Your own speed comes from an OBDLink CX. Playback shows the take and the estimate that was saved.

Why $9.99:

One take holds the picture, your speed, and the other car when it was in view.
The other car's number is an estimate. It is not a radar reading.
Your speed is from the OBDLink CX, with the key on.
Pay once. No subscription and no ads.
The video and the log stay on your device.

A Kindle will record. A phone with a better camera will see farther. Line up the lens in the center of the glass, not the middle of the tablet. On a Kindle the lens sits off to one side.
